Payment Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions govern all financial obligations between students (and, where applicable, their sponsors) and the University of New Haven – Riyadh (“NHU-Riyadh” or “the University”). By enrolling at NHU-Riyadh, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Important: This document should be read alongside the tuition and financing page, which sets out current fee levels, and the academic calendar, which publishes the first day of classes each semester. All tuition must be paid in full before the first day of classes. In the event of any conflict between this page and a student’s individual offer letter or enrollment agreement, the terms of the offer letter or enrollment agreement shall prevail.

1. General

1.1   These payment terms and conditions apply to all students enrolled at NHU-Riyadh, whether on undergraduate or graduate programs and whether studying full-time, part-time or in a hybrid format. Students completing a foundation year as part of their undergraduate degree are subject to the same terms.

1.2   All fees are quoted and payable in Saudi riyals (SAR). Where amounts are also shown in U.S. dollars or any other currency, the dollar figure is provided for indicative reference only and is not binding. The SAR amount is the amount due in every case. The University does not accept payment in any currency other than SAR.

1.3   All tuition and fee amounts published on this website are stated exclusive of value added tax (VAT). VAT is payable in addition where applicable (see section 4).

1.4   These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

1.5   The University reserves the right to amend these terms, and to adjust tuition fees and other charges, at any time. Amendments take effect from the date of publication on this page. Continued enrollment after the date of any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The University will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice of material changes, but is not obliged to do so.

1.6   The English-language version of these terms is the authoritative version. Where an Arabic translation is published, it is provided for convenience only. In the event of any inconsistency between the English and Arabic texts, the English text shall prevail.

2. Application and Admission Fees

2.1   A non-refundable application fee is payable when submitting an application for admission. The current amount is published on the how to apply page. The application fee is not credited against tuition and is not refundable under any circumstances, including rejection of the application.

2.2   Applicants who receive an offer of admission must pay a non-refundable enrollment deposit to secure their place. The deposit amount and payment deadline are stated in the offer letter. The enrollment deposit is credited in full against the first semester’s tuition fees but is not refundable under any circumstances, whether the student decides not to enroll, withdraws before classes begin or withdraws after classes have started.

2.3   Applicants who do not pay the enrollment deposit by the deadline stated in the offer letter may lose their place. The University may, at its discretion, extend the deadline upon written request.

3. Tuition Payment

3.1   Tuition must be paid in full in advance of each semester. Payment must be received by the University before the first day of classes for that semester, as published on the academic calendar. The University does not currently offer installment or deferred payment plans.

3.2   Students who have not paid their tuition in full before the first day of classes will not be permitted to attend classes or access course materials. Students are responsible for ensuring that payment is received on time, whether or not they receive a reminder from the University. Students paying by bank transfer should allow sufficient time for the transfer to be processed and credited to the University’s account.

3.3   Current tuition rates for each program are published on the tuition and student financing page. The University may adjust tuition rates between academic years. Any adjustment applies to all students, including those already enrolled, from the start of the academic year in which the new rates take effect.

4. Value Added Tax (VAT)

4.1   All tuition and fee amounts published on this website are stated exclusive of VAT. VAT is payable in addition where applicable.

4.2   In accordance with the regulations of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), private educational services provided to Saudi citizens enrolled in accredited degree programs are exempt from VAT. Saudi citizens enrolled in such programs are not charged VAT on their tuition fees.

4.3   Non-Saudi students are subject to VAT at the rate prevailing at the time of invoicing (currently 15%) on tuition and applicable fees. VAT is charged in addition to the published fee amount and must be paid together with the tuition.

4.4   The University will issue a VAT-compliant tax invoice for all payments received. If VAT regulations or rates change, the University will apply the updated rate from the effective date specified by ZATCA.

5. Payment Methods

5.1   Tuition and fees are payable by bank transfer to the University’s account at Al Rajhi Bank. The University’s banking details are as follows:

University bank account details

Account name
New Haven Company
Bank
Al Rajhi Bank
Account number
504000010006089954891
IBAN
SA54 8000 0504 6080 1995 4891

Your invoice number

5.2   You must include the invoice number in the payment reference field. If you do not include the correct invoice number, your payment may not be credited against your tuition and may not be refundable. If you are paying from outside Saudi Arabia, ensure your bank includes the IBAN when sending the transfer.

5.3   All bank charges, intermediary fees, and any currency conversion costs are the responsibility of the payer. The University must receive the full amount due. If the amount received is less than the amount owed after deduction of bank or exchange rate fees, the student is responsible for paying the shortfall.

5.4   Additional payment methods (including online card payments and SADAD) may be introduced in the future. Any additional methods and their terms will be published on this page and on the student portal.

5.5   The University does not accept cash payments. Payments made by any method not listed on this page will not be recognized and the University accepts no liability for funds transferred to any account other than the one specified above.

6. Employer and Sponsor Payments

6.1   If your tuition is to be paid in whole or in part by an employer, government body or other sponsor, you must provide the University with a written letter of financial guarantee before the start of the semester. The letter must confirm the sponsor’s name and contact details, the student’s name and ID number, the amount or proportion of tuition to be covered, and the billing contact at the sponsoring organization. Where tuition is supported by the Social Development Bank (SDB), no letter of guarantee is required; SDB payments are handled through the SDB portal.

6.2   The student remains personally liable for the full tuition amount until the University has received payment from the sponsor. If the sponsor fails to pay, or pays less than the guaranteed amount, the student must settle the outstanding balance within 14 calendar days of receiving written notice from the University.

6.3   Any refund arising from the withdrawal of a sponsored student will be returned to the sponsor, not to the student, unless the sponsor provides written instruction to the contrary.

7. Late Payment

7.1   Students whose tuition has not been received in full before the first day of classes will not be permitted to attend classes and may have their course registration cancelled for the current semester. Under exceptional circumstances, the University may, at its sole discretion, permit late payment subject to a late fee of SAR 1,000. No grace period applies automatically.

7.2   If your tuition account is not in good standing, the University will place a financial hold on your student record. While a financial hold is active, you may be unable to (among other things):

(a) register for or attend courses;
(b) receive official transcripts, certificates or degree documents;
(c) have your degree conferred;
(d) access certain student portal services.

This list is indicative and not exhaustive.

7.3   Students whose registration has been cancelled for non-payment may apply for reinstatement, but reinstatement is not guaranteed. It is subject to course availability and full settlement of all outstanding fees, including the late fee.

7.4   Accounts that remain unpaid after repeated attempts to resolve the balance may be referred to an external collection agency. Once an account has been referred, the student must work directly with the agency to settle the debt. The student may also be responsible for reasonable collection costs and legal fees incurred by the University.

8. Withdrawal and Refund Policy

8.1   If you withdraw from one or more courses, or withdraw from the University entirely, the amount of tuition refunded depends on when the University receives your formal withdrawal request. The refund schedule below applies to full-semester courses (autumn and spring semesters). The enrollment deposit is non-refundable.

Percent of refund Date of Withdrawal
100% Week 1
80% Week 2
60% Week 3
40% Week 4
20% Week 5
0% After Week 5

8.2   No refunds are available for summer session or training courses once the course has begun. Students who withdraw from a summer session or training course before the first day of that course are entitled to a full refund of tuition (less the enrollment deposit). Individual training courses may have course-specific refund policies; please check the training course information at the time of booking.

8.3   Refunds are calculated from the date on which the University receives your official withdrawal, submitted through the student portal or the Office of the Registrar. The date you last attended class is not used to calculate refunds. You are strongly encouraged to submit any withdrawal promptly.

8.4   The University may charge an administrative fee of up to SAR 1,000 to process a withdrawal and refund. Any such fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

8.5   Application fees, enrollment deposits, late fees, and administrative charges are non-refundable under any circumstances.

8.6   If the University cancels a course or program, or if an application is rejected after payment has been received, tuition for that course or program is refunded in full.

8.7   Refunds are processed within 30 calendar days of the University’s receipt of the withdrawal request. Refunds are made by bank transfer to the account from which the original payment was received, unless the student provides alternative written instructions approved by the Student Accounts Office.

8.8   Scholarships, discounts and other financial concessions awarded by the University are not subject to clawback on withdrawal, unless the terms of the scholarship or concession (as disclosed to the student at the time of the award) specifically require it. Where a scholarship or concession is funded by an external sponsor, the sponsor’s terms shall apply and will be disclosed to the student before the award is accepted.

9. New Student Withdrawal Before Classes Begin

9.1   A newly admitted student who decides not to enroll after paying the enrollment deposit will forfeit the deposit (clause 2.2). The enrollment deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances.

9.2   If the student has paid tuition in addition to the enrollment deposit, the tuition portion (excluding the deposit) will be refunded in full provided the withdrawal is submitted before the first day of classes.

10. Student Obligations

10.1   It is the student’s responsibility to meet the payment obligations set out in section 3, whether or not the University sends a reminder.

10.2   Students must keep their contact details and banking information up to date on the student portal. The University is not liable for delays caused by outdated or incorrect information provided by the student.

10.3   Students who experience financial difficulty should contact the Student Accounts Office as early as possible. Any accommodation is at the University’s sole discretion and does not create a right to deferred or installment payment.

11. University’s Rights and Remedies

11.1   The University reserves the right to withhold course registration, transcripts, certificates, degree conferral and other academic services from any student who has an outstanding financial obligation to the University. This hold remains in effect until all obligations are settled in full.

11.2   The University reserves the right to cancel a student’s enrollment if tuition has not been paid in full before the first day of classes or, where late payment has been permitted under clause 7.1, within the period specified by the University.

11.3   The University reserves the right to refer unpaid accounts to an external collection agency or to pursue legal remedies through the competent courts in Riyadh, in accordance with clause 1.4.

11.4   Where the terms of a scholarship, discount or financial concession include conditions relating to academic performance, attendance or conduct, the University may revoke or adjust the award if those conditions are not met. The specific conditions are disclosed to the student at the time of the award (see clause 8.8).

12. Limitation of Liability

12.1   The University’s total financial liability to a student under these terms shall not exceed the total tuition and fees paid by or on behalf of that student for the semester in question.

12.2   The University shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or incidental loss arising from a student’s enrollment, withdrawal or any other matter covered by these terms, including loss of earnings, loss of opportunity or travel costs.

12.3   Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

13. Data Protection and Privacy

13.1   Financial and personal information collected in connection with tuition payments is processed in accordance with the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and the University’s privacy policy.

13.2   The University may share relevant financial information with sponsors (where a letter of financial guarantee is in place), external collection agencies (where an account has been referred for collection) and regulatory or government bodies as required by law.
